Rubix with Kowton & Bake

Get your gun fingers ready. Rubix is seeing in the summer with a special all-night show.

In Kowton we welcome an artist with an annihilating grime-meets-techno hybrid in his bag. One third of Livity Sound with Pev and Asusu, the Bristolian’s solo releases meld clattering snares and claps with thunderous bass to devastating effect.

As well as stellar releases on his own Pale Fire imprint, an impressive back catalogue includes work on Hessle Audio, Nakedlunch and Idle Hands, his old record shop stomping grounds in the west country. Of late he’s been taking LS’s label and live show from strength to strength, and is known for his energetic DJ sets.

Alongside him Rubix welcome back to the Sub Club the man who perhaps provided Kowton’s finest hour, Glaswegian hero Bake. His All Caps label provided a home for the Bristol man’s ‘TFB’, an obliterating allegory to Ruff Sqwad which enjoyed an anthemic 2013. The imprint hasn’t stopped there, with releases coming thick and fast. Now relocated to the capital, Bake has been cutting his teeth at Fabric and Corsica Studios. We welcome back to his hometown a DJ in his prime.

The Kowton b2b Bake session on Rinse FM was a memorable two hours, and the duo will no doubt raise the roof at subby. Expect riotous scenes on Jamaica street…
