The Revenge on his Hardware for Hogmanay Live

The Revenge‘s debut album is due for release on his own label (Roar Groovein March and he’ll be throwing down a few live shows around then. Harri & Domenic are totally delighted to add the world exclusive premier of Graeme’s live set to our Hogmanay party bill, as they bring 2014 and Subculture’s phenomenal 20th anniversary year to a close.

The Revenge is equally excited: “When the opportunity came up to do the first show at the Subbie it was a massive honour and the perfect place to start … the deep end! Between myself and my live partner Paul, the live setup consists of a combination of software and hardware that mirrors what I use in the studio.”

Here is a quick run down of 3 pieces of handpicked hardware he’ll be using for the live show on NYE…

Moog Voyager

99% of my basslines start right here. When you require something hefty in your bottom end, this is your man. It’s a bit overkill for the live stuff in all honesty as it’s got more twiddle-ability than I really need, so as I begin to tour the show outside of Glasgow I might need to employ one of it’s children. It’s got a nice blue light with a dimmer switch too.

Roland TR-909

Probably don’t really need to explain this distinguished gentleman. He usually resides in the studio these days as he’s getting on a bit, but I’ll be bringing him out for the Sub Club show. In terms of house / techno drums, the 909 has you covered. The newer TR-8 is actually a lot more practical and sturdy for on the road, but it’s nice to get the classic out of the garage for a wee run around on special occasions.

E&S DJR400

I travel with this mixer to most of my DJ gigs and it’s become an integral part of the live stuff now too. I have a real feel for this mixer from using it all the time which really helps as I started to bring the live show together. I’ve modified it with different pots from the original to make it more comfortable for me and it has sends and returns that I use to feed a Moogerfooger Delay unit. For the live stuff I use each channel as a different bus – i.e. drums, bass, leads, vocals.
