Taking two to dance a 9th birthday tango, Sensu celebrates 9 years of musical outpourings and parties with special guests Subb-An and DJ Tennis.

From humble underground beginnings, Sensu have been a cornerstone of Glasgow’s music scene, growing each year in output and originality. After nine years they are showing no sign of letting up and leading from the front of the Sub Club’s forward looking residents.

This Friday they continue to stake out their claims with the arrival of Crosstown Rebel Subb-An, a young, hardworking DJ and producer with an impressive CV already tucked under his burnished belt. Highlights among his achievements in these still early days include the founding of One Records with partner Adam Shelton, releasing tracks on Bpitch Control, Mothership and 2020 Vision and playing the best clubs currently from Munich to Mexico.Find out why DJ Magazine voted him Best Breakthrough DJ by checking his Fabric Revel Rave mix. Subb-An will be joined by a Scottish exclusive showing for Life & Death Boss, the Berlin-based DJ Tennis. Have a listen to his recording from this year’s Burning Man festival. Warm up duties are over to Sensu’s own Barry Price & Junior.

Sarf Lahndaner, Medlar returns to the Sub Club alongside the Sub Rosa residents.

Medlar first hit the scene with his widely lauded 2011 track “Terrell” which fully affirmed him as a dj’s favourite, moving forward as one of the three WOLF resident producers with releases such as the sublime and slamming “Knockard Pearl”.

This year has been momentous for Med with his highly anticipated debut LP SLEEP getting ready to drop on WOLF this month and, in our humble opinion, one of the best remixes to come out this year…his take of Tensnake’s “See Right Through.”

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch one of his sets previously then you can most surely testify Medlar’s love for music is indeed infectious and his knowledge more than evident… For a mix to put you in the right frame of mind go here

Entry is £5 on the door.

Nine years are to be celebrated tonight as birthday boys Barry and Junior blow out the proverbial candles with the help of guests Subb-An and DJ Tennis. Subb-An’s rapid rise to prominence as a DJ, producer and one of the most exiting new British live acts of recent years is testament to his hard work, natural talent and wholehearted commitment to electronic music. He’ll be joined by Berlin based DJ Tennis from the Life and Death label as well as the residents to complete the celebratory line-up. Congratulations to the Sensu crew, time for a party!

From his Neumatik Studio in Zagreb, Croatian producer Petar Dundov creates electronic music from miles and mazes of wires and an analogue collection of synths and obscure sound equipment curated over the last twenty years. From here his field of sound, many layered and meticulously built, grows to be both beautiful and emotional.

A man with arguable a deeper and more complex connection to the dancefloor than many of his contemporaries we fully expect newcomers to his music to have their ears opened.

“Sometimes I had it in concerts where people start to cry, they express these deeper emotions. The music is just like a key. Something is already there. And the ability of music is to liberate that, it’s just a medium to open up something that is already there.”

Making his Sub Club debut Subculture presents Petar Dundov with a live set to intrigue and move you in equal measure. Partake of a preview with his Dimensions set from summer just gone.

Following Her “Classic Vs Horse Meat Disco” Appearance At ‘Random Magic’ In London the previous night we are delighted to welcome Chicago born Miss Honey Dijon back to the Sub Club for a special one-off Disco And classics Dj Set.

It’s two nights off Halloween itself but The i AM are more than happy to embrace the spirits of darkness a little bit early. How you dress is up to you but mind a stitch in time saves nine and mind a pocket for your ID, you don’t want to miss this.

They can’t remember if it was the fact his surname makes them think of witches’ cackling or that the Mathematics releases have satanic looking crosses when they spin round that provided inspiration but it’s gonna be a messy night either way. Last year’s party was heavy on production, this year they’re going to be stripping it back to bare bones.

DJ, Producer and Live Performer from Merseyside, UK, John began playing nights in and around Liverpool at the age of fifteen. John collected a 2012 Qwartz Electronic Music Award in Paris for his ‘Life On Titan EP’, while 2013 has seen the release of his second full length album, ‘Desolate Figures’, on Tabernacle.

He has now performed in over twenty countries, and continues to do so using an assortment of hardware to accompany his ever varying vinyl selections. Full hardware live shows are also part of his repertoire, and are perhaps what John is best known for, following appearances on Boiler Room, FACT and LWE.

Sub Club & Optimo present Daphni [4 Hour Set]

The Sub Club and Optimo proudly bring Daphni to the Sub Club on Sunday November 3rd for a 4-hour dj set. This will be the artist’s first ever-Scottish appearance and one of only three UK dates he is playing in 2013.

Daphni is the alter ego of Dan Snaith, aka Caribou of whom little should need said. Creator of these now seminal recordings and live performances that have captivated people’s hearts Daphni is the more explicitly dancefloor side of Caribou where Snaith gets to explore his love of tribal rhythms, psychedelic synthesizers and entrancing grooves.

A series of releases on his Jiaolong label, several stellar remixes and the club classic “Ye Ye” have cemented his reputation as one of the top producers in electronic music, one who is not afraid to break out of the often conservative nature of much dance music and create music that will move a crowd while sounding highly distinctive and original.

His dj sets follow a similar path embracing wild party sounds ranging from the greatest lost African synth records to wild free jazz, intergalactic techno and life affirming house music. Fearless, exciting, mind-blowing and never boring, a Daphni dj set is a sonic delight for those who love to dance and open their ears and hearts to genuinely amazing music.

We are supremely excited about this night and look forward to giving Mr. Snaith a very warm Glasgow welcome.
