Focus on Deetron

Operating under his Deetron moniker since the early nineties, Swiss national Sam Geiser has dedicated most of his life to making and playing dance music in its truest form to those that appreciate it most. With this in mind, we can’t overstate how excited we are to have him back at [2]Subculture tomorrow with his immaculate mixing skills and a distinctive melodic, take on techno. As the night approaches and for the uninitiated amongst us, we thought we’d get to grips with some selected highlights from his musical career, treat your ears to some bar raising DJ mixes and share our love of one of our favourite electronic music artists of recent years.

As prolific as they come, he has released on labels such as Intec, Music Man and Ongaku and remixed everyone worth their salt along the way. From Romanthony, Joey Negro and Aeroplane to Funk D’Void, Gerd, Joris Voorn, George Fitzgerald and Miguel Migs; they’ve all requested the silky, sleek and floor shattering reworks Deetron has become renowned for since he first announced himself way back in 1998.

Following his debut artist album ‘Twisted’, released in 2006, he found himself at the forefront of the the global electronic music scene, securing his name as one of the most excitingly reliable producers and DJs out there. Consistently excellent collaborations with a diverse range of musicians have brought his music to the attention of much more than just the techno aficionados of this world. Studio sessions with Seth Troxler and Hercules & Love Affair stand out as highlights but it’s his solo material that really sets it off, saving the very best for himself before letting us in on the act. Well that and his DJ sets. After all, that’s where it counts. On the floor, in the club and aimed squarely at moving your feet.

Imagine every club you’ve ever wanted to go to…he’s played there. Fabric in London, Womb in Tokyo, Social Club in Paris, Berghain in Berlin. Oh yeah, and Sub Club in Glasgow. Not that we really forgot of course and judging by your response last time he played for us, we doubt he has either.

He’s been known to back up his exemplary live sets with DJ mixes for all the big hitters. Radio 1’s Essential mix, FACT Magazine, Resident Advisor, Mixmag…they’ve all had him and as yet not one of us has seen it fit to complain. It’s safe to say he’ll keep recording these DJ mixes and we’ll keep turning them up just like he intended.  In between times, as long as he drops by the club every now and then for our musical entertainment then we’ll go through life with Subculture Saturdays to look forward to. And who could blame us?
