FAQs

  • About Sub Club

A 3,500-square-foot basement night club in Glasgow, founded April 1st 1987. Sub Club is one of the longest running underground dance clubs in the world. We also run the longest running underground weekly club night in the world – Subculture – and two festivals – Sub Club Southside Weekender &  Sub Club SoundSystem.

  • Location

Sub Club is at 22 Jamaica Street, G1 4QD

A 4 minute walk from Glasgow Central Train Station

2 minutes from St Enoch Glasgow Underground station. (Closes at 23:30 Monday to Saturday and 18:00 on a Sunday.)

A number of First bus routes pass the Sub Club.

20 minute drive from Glasgow International Airport.

There is a taxi rank immediately outside the club.

  • Accessibility

As we’re a basement venue with limited space, unfortunately we do not currently have wheelchair access to the venue. There is 1 step up to the main entrance into the venue and a further 15 steps down into the basement. The entire venue is on one level with no stairs to either toilets. Both toilet areas are non-gendered.

We welcome anyone with access requirements to enter the venue however they feel comfortable. Our door stewards are trained to help with this, please let us know in person on the night and we can provide assistance with this.

Whilst the main entrance way is well lit, the venue itself is dimly lit with the use of a strobe-lighting effects and flashing lights on the majority of events. If you have any specific sensory requirements or needs we encourage you to get in touch with us before your visit: info@subclub.co.uk

  • What’s on

Please visit subclub.co.uk/party or our Resident Advisor page to see what’s on.

Sub Club is open every Friday (various) & Saturday (Subculture) and often Thursday and Sunday.

Doors open at 11pm and close at 4am unless otherwise stated.

  • Advance Tickets

The most up to date ticketing information can always be found on the event’s Resident Advisor page or the promoters social media channels.

All Subculture tickets can be bought through Sub Club’s Resident Advisor page.

  • Sold out events

Some of our nights have a policy of holding back some tickets for the door on the night of the event itself. This will be clearly communicated through our and/or the promoters’ social media channels.

Once an event is sold out tickets often become available on Resident Advisor via their resale function. This is the safest way of purchasing a legitimate ticket and ensuring your entry to the club. The resale queue is activated at the discretion of the event promoter and therefore may not be active for every event.

While sometimes people will post on social media advertising tickets for sale, this is highly risky and open to abuse – please be aware each ticket can only be scanned once.

  • Your welfare

We take the safety and well-being of you, our customers, extremely seriously. If at any point during the night you feel uncomfortable as a result of someone else’s behaviour please speak to a member of staff.

We take a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment or discrimination of any kind.
Sexists, racists, ableists, ageists, homophobes, transphobes and bigots are not welcome at the Sub Club.
Likewise if you feel unwell, for any reason, please let us know and we will provide you with the appropriate support. We do not judge and every issue will be treated in the strictest confidence.
If you would prefer not to speak to us directly or if there’s something you want to bring to our attention outwit the club’s opening hours please email:

    safety@subclub.co.uk
You are here to have a good time, so please look after each other and be respectful of those around you.

    It’s your club after all.

  • Lost property

The way to get your stuff back is simply to pop down the club when we’re open and check if it’s there or not. You can pop down any time between 10 & 11pm to check. There’s a buzzer in the top right hand corner of the doorway, ring that and someone will assist you. Check our events to see which days we’re open this week.

Items not collected within 28 days will be donated to charity or disposed of accordingly.

  • Dress code

Sub Club does not have a specific dress code. As a rule we don’t allow football colours, high-vis glow wear, or any clothing which may cause offence. Trainers chewed to bits and trousers covered in mud probably won’t be allowed in either.

If you’d like to check if a particular item of clothing is allowed – please email info@subclub.co.uk.

  • Age restrictions

Sub Club is a strictly aged 18+ venue. We operate a challenge 25 policy, all those lucky enough to appear under the age of 25 will be asked to provide evidence of their age by a valid photographic ID (UK Driving License, PASS 18+ Card or Passport).

  • Taking pictures in the club

Sub Club does not allow any unauthorised filming or photography with professional/prosumer equipment. Anyone found doing this without prior permission is at risk of having his or her property confiscated. For all clearance on filming and photography please email info@subclub.co.uk.

As for camera phones, make sure your flash is switched off – it kills the atmosphere and distracts the DJ and technicians from their work. Please don’t film or take photos on the dance floor.

  • Hire the club

We are always open to interesting ideas and proposals for events and nights – please email hire@subclub.co.uk, whether you’re an experienced promoter or newcomer.

  • Can I play in your club?

Due to the volume of mixes and demos we receive we cannot reply to everyone. However – we do listen.
