Happy Birthday Subculture

With Harri & Domenic at the helm Subculture has endured like no other club night in the world and is now firmly established as the longest running weekly underground night on the planet. On May 4th we will celebrate [3]19 years of Subculture Saturdays, as they continue to go from strength to strength nearly two decades on. As testament to their integrity and longevity, Harri & Domenic always steer clear of trends and fads and remain true to their roots, serving up a flawless selection of house and techno to the clued up masses the world over as well as in our dear green place called Glasgow. In true birthday style we have invited one of our favourite DJs and truest inspirations to join us, the one and only [4]DJ Sneak. One of house music’s genuine pioneers, DJ Sneak has the passion and drive to keep house music alive all on his own and as the self-proclaimed House Gangster, he has more than helped shape the course that dance music has taken over the last 20 years. Since the early 90s his music has strongly influenced crossover acts such Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Armand Van Helden as well fellow underground heroes Derrick Carter, Mark Farina and Greenskeepers, taking in a whole generation of Chicago DJs that owe so much to his production style and DJ aesthetic.

The 5AM licence has just been confirmed and there are still some advanced tickets available here.

Having begun his DJ’ing career in 1983, Sneak continues to be at the top of his game. His non stop beat bumpin’ sets are a one of a kind experience in the electronic music circuit and are backed up by a barrage of top quality releases on some of the most consistent and exciting labels operating today. His signature sound of funky filtered disco-influenced house and tough, jacking beats has revolutionised and redefined house music for well over 20 years and his influence continues to be be felt today.

Responsible for over 120 12”s, singles, EPs and albums, it’s a near impossible task to sum up DJ Sneak’s career in any sort of bite sized chunk. And that in itself is what makes him our perfect birthday guest as he never sits still and is always evolving, collaborating with those he works with best and releasing music directly to the people that want it most. He’s behind so many classics of our dance floor we’ve lost count and even if we tried to keep up we would not know where to start, his history runs so deep. Just like Subculture, he’s here to stay and we would not have it any other way.

Now let’s get to 20!
