THUR-Frogbeats present: Sam Binga
Something is happening to the faster side of dance music. Maybe it’s the hyperactive influence of juke’s chopped-up 808s, the embrace of dubstep’s half-time flow at a higher tempo or perhaps it’s simply the on-going evolution of the mutation started by dBridge and the Autonomic podcasts. Whatever the origin, that spectrum of music between 160 and 170bpm is sounding utterly vital once again. Sam Binga’s yearning to integrate all these influences makes him a master or versatility in that faster tempo range.
Sam Binga has been releasing singles since 2002, and collaborated with artists like Hyetal, Gemmy and TRG on his 2011 album ‘Joint Ventures’, under the moniker Baobinga. In the last few years since ‘Joint Ventures’, he seems to have found his feet in the same jungle / juke crossover territory, working with the likes of Om Unit, Machinedrum, Addison Groove and Fracture.
