Sensu took 5 minutes to chat to Steve about Glasgow, summer plans and his Poker flat…

Do you enjoy playing Glasgow, if so why Steve? Why?

I do, i always have a great time in Glasgow. People are always really into the music and they know how to party.

What is your fondest memory of the Sub Club?

Me being on the dancefloor on a new years eve enjoying the music and thinking: “I’d rather keep on dancing than start to play” the vibe on the dancefloor there is very special.

How does Glasgow compare to other cities around the world?

From a dj’s perspective you don’t have a huge crowd, but a really loving one and the city has a history in house and techno and you can definitely feel that.

What do you like about the current electronic music scene?

There is so much great music out there, where do i start?

What do you dislike about the current electronic music scene?

The fact that very few djs are playing really good music. Most DJs are simply focusing on one style (usually the one that’s hyped the most) and they forget to look left or right. They kinda play what works the best, instead of having a sound of their own. Not so many originals out there anymore. A lot of big name artists would rather do public relations and play the popularity game than focus on the music.

If you could arrange a night choosing 5 dj’s past or present to join you, who would you have play?

Laurent GarnierDeetron, DixonLarry Heard, Klaus Stockhausen

Are you hyped for the rest of the summer plans? Sonar & Get Physical in Ibiza…

Yes, the summer is – hopefully – coming soon. It is freezing again in berlin, but luckily the Sonar weekend is not too far away and we have another Poker Flat and 2020 Vision Showcase coming up, this year we teamed up with Supernature for a bigger showcase! First stop is in Ibiza in 10 days at Space. But yes i am playing a few times at Vista for the Get Physical guys as well this year which I am excited about because we always have such a great time together.

What are the 5 essentials that you will be taking to Ibiza?

Talking about music or items? ;) i don’t know yet, every week there are new ones released, so they might add up.

What’s the latest from your Poker Flat? Still winning ;)?

We are holding a straight flush, something i can’t really talk about yet, it is a compilation, but it is a very special one and it’s coming from the past, but it still sounds great today, you’ll see…

Before that we have a re-release of another classic track with new remixes. Foremost Poets – Reasons 2 Be Dismal with Dixon and Motorcitysoul remixes, plus a special edit by myself. Also a remix package lined up for Daniel Dexter’s Focus On, with mixes by Ian Pooley, Uner, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and David Keno. Jackpot should be ours!! Hehe

Limited advanced tickets for Sunday are still available from either
