Spittal & Nowicki’s Top 5 Prosumer Picks

This Wednesday Sub Rosa are lucky enough to have a true don in the booth. A subbie favourite who’s always more than willing to share his wealth of musical nectar. To make the wait a little easier Spittal & Nowicki have decided to share with us a list of their top 5 Prosumer picks, consisting of any track he’s made, recommended or even a just hidden gem they’ve heard him play out. Sharing is caring so let’s get started…

Back to Basiks (Back 2 The Way It Was) Nou-Lion Stripped Mix

First heard this on one of his boiler rooms (think it was the Berlin one). Soft and sensual vibes from 1996, still bangs!

Placebo – Inner City Blues

Heard this track from one of his NTS radio shows. A sublime cover of the Marvin Gaye classic by a Belgium Jazz band from the same era.

Separate Minds – We Need Somebody(Express Records) 1988

One of our favourite tracks to play out at Sub Rosa! We actually heard this the first time Prosumer played for us in 2013. It’s by Separate Minds (MK, Terrance Parker, Lou Robinson and Vernell Shelton). Luckily the big dawg was happy to share what it was.

DJ Duke – Heard

Featured in Prosumer’s Panorama bar mix all the tracks on this EP are tributes to well known deep house DJ’s and producers. The production and atmosphere on each track is truly unique.

Circulation – Memory

Nicked this one from a guardian article about Prosumer’s favourite tracks at the time of the interview. He was asked to pick a song he would play at his funeral but I think his words about the track do it more justice, ‘There is a bit of everything in there: longing, joy, melancholy. But it leaves you with a positive outlook. A bit like life.’

That’s all for now until Wednesday, then you can catch Prosumer sharing his even more expansive wealth of musical knowledge for a full 3 hours at Sub Club. Adv tickets for this event are on sale  HERE, then more on the door from 11pm.
