Yotto: The I AM Playlist!

I AM’s guest this week, Yotto, has put together a short list of some powerful tracks he’s been airing recently ahead of his Sub Club debut. As a DJ and producer, he has been blazing a trail having recently released his debut album Hyperfall, he’s been touring it around the world and getting support from some of the industries best!

Dig in and get down to these ahead of tomorrow night;

1. Guy Gerber – What To Do (&Me Remix) / Rumors (FORTHCOMING)

Fantastic work from &Me, a great piano roller that works as the last record of the night or a big moment in the middle.

2. Rone – Mirapolis (Laurent Garnier Remix)

Epic Laurent Garnier moment here, something relentless and warm about this remix. Love it.

3. Shur-I-Kan – State Of Emergency / Freerange

Great groove and a lovely dancefloor moment.

4. Feroziana – Afrika / SexOnWax

A big, bassy techno roller with just a great funky groove that does not let go. Been playing this a lot.

5. Sasha – Smoke Monk / Fabric

Classic Sasha tune, feels like it was lifted from one of my all time favourite albums Airdrawndagger and updated for today’s floor. Goes deep.

6. Jel Ford – Night Shade / Drumcode

Big, epic synth-heavy techno from Jel Ford. One of the standouts from latest Drumcode compilation.

7. Sebb Junior – Don’t Play That / La Vie D’Artiste

Big, funky summertime house music. These always work when the going gets too dark and serious.

8. Yotto – Odd One Out

Possibly my favourite track from my album, just a simple emotional melody going around and around.

9. Nic Fanciulli & Mark Fanciulli – Star / Play It Say It

It’s a hit, but for a reason. Great catchy vocal sample and a banging groove.

10. Rufus Du Sol – Underwater (Yotto Remix) / Reprise (FORTHCOMING)

I love the Rufus guys and have made a remix of Underwater from their new album. Should be out in a month or so, really happy with how it turned out!

Domenic Cappello – The Intruder EP

This is something we’re very excited about, from one of our own.

Alongside long-term DJ partner Harri, Domenic Cappello has maintained his weekly Saturday Subculture residency, the flagship night at Glasgow’s Sub Club, since 1994. He has released many records under many guises yet this is his first EP under his own name. 2017 also marks 30 years of Sub Club and it feels fitting for such two landmarks to dovetail as they have. The Intruder EP is 3 brilliant tracks that come from a lifetime spent in music.

7 YEARS OF i AM

I AM’s 7th birthday event / Free before 23:30 guestlist sign up

Who’d have thought it? 7 years old, 364 I AMs, ain’t that something. There’s no chance they’d have believed you if you’d said to them 364 weeks ago that I AM would still be doing it 7 years down the line. Thank you from the I AM & Sub Club to everyone who has danced, PR’d, DJ’d, or contributed in anyway shape or form over those 7 years.

But what’s it all about? The music. Over to Beta & Kappa for 7 tracks.

BETA’S SEVEN

Patrick Bishop – Un (Tuff City Kids remix)

Ne Noya – Cos-Ber-Zam – Daphni Mix

JD Twitch – Maya

Way Out West – Tuesday Maybe (I:Cube’s Sunrise Remix)

rRoxymore / Oni Ayhun / Aquarian Jugs / Jaguar Woman – DR1-1

SCNTST – Thru Infinity

KAPPA’S SEVEN

Underground Resistance – Timeline

The first twelve inch I ever purchased may before i AM existed. So good I ended up with three copies and always play it when I’m struggling to settle nerves or i’ve played too much shite. Most addictive instrumental ever, still love it as much as I first bought it.

Gigi D’Agostino – Amorelletronico

My current favourite and most requested I.D. Now you all know and I’ll have to stop playing. Kidding on it’s getting played five times a week until you beg me not to. Not new but not “old” for synthy Italo. Pure Euphoria.

Kings Of Tomorrow – Finally

Wow. I have such an affinity for heartfelt vocals. There are so many I could pick but this has been closest to my soul and played out the most perhaps.

Denis Sulta – A.A.S. (Nite & Day Mix)

Our pal, Hector. He’s made so much great music but I have to pick just one.

Michna – Real Hero

Probably my most played instrumental track on a Tuesday. Some great tracks seem to skim over the crowd and pass them by but I feel with this, it has an impact every time. So simple and short and perfect.

Daft Punk – Voyager

The undisputed best Daft Punk Track. I’ve played most of their back catalogue out over the years but this has long long been my favourite (tho Revolution 909 is v v v close and yes Homework is the better album) and gets mixed unashamedly over anything that even half goes. It’s like mayonnaise. Or even better. It will be played at Enter Tron forevermore.

Celestial Choir – Stand On The Word

Not remixed by Larry Levan at all. This song is an enigma and was the last track played on the very first night back in 2010. It’s also my final pick here, bar a few bonus tracks I’ve included below. There are many others I cant think of right now. See you at the birthday party…

Secret Bonus track

My favourite song from my fave singer of all time. I confess I sneak it underneath a lot of music cause it’s hard to play out itself. Quite often paired with Carl Craig’s “Angel (Caya Dub)”

Billie Holiday – The Very Thought Of You
