What makes up a good playlist?

Playlisting has come a long way since the days of the cassette mixtape. Using platforms such as Youtube or Spotify, anyone can make up an infinite number of playlists that can work for any context – in the car, in the gym, on the tube etc. Access to music is no longer the issue, but auto-playlist generation algorhythms and radio constantly
falls short. This means the human curator/playlister or DJ is now more essential than ever. So what makes a good curator? Can anyone do it or is there a special skill?
