Return to Mono: Stephanie Sykes + Blasha & Allatt // 13.01.23

After a busy 2022, with 3 devastating EPs on Soma as well as an understated downtempo remix for Glasvegas & a recent track on the Avoidant compilation ‘Planet Destroyed’, supported by an incredible electro DJ mix on Hör (as Autonomous), Slam chose to end the year with a trip to the USA playing San Francisco and LA for NYE- then NYC in January.

They leave the first RTM of 2023 in more than capable hands of Stephanie Sykes, Blasha & Allatt + Kairogen.

Stephanie Sykes

Berlin-based Stephanie Sykes is one of the most sought-after and distinguished figures to come out of the UK techno scene within the last decade. Sykes has honed a sound that has a hypnotic raw energy, which has led her to some of the most esteemed club booths in world.

Regularly holding it down on dance floors such as Berghain and Fabric, Steph holds an extreme amount of poise and composure whilst conjuring infectious rhythm and groove. This headstrong approach has had Stephanie tour every corner of the globe for over a decade and still remains one of the most coveted techno selectors on the circuit right now. In both the studio and behind the decks Stephanie strives to bring a gritty modern spin on ambient, techno and experimental electronica, carefully curated and skilfully arranged into one seamless journey.

Blasha & Allatt

Blasha & Allatt are honorary Mancunian natives and co-founders and residents of the infamous Meat Free parties, of which are hailed as one of the wildest techno raves in the UK. The duo are revered in their local scene as much as they are championed by many of the artists and peers they have played alongside. With a symbiotic energy behind the decks whether at the helm at Manchester’s White Hotel, holding it down in Fabric or cruising into the early hours at Bret, Blasha and Allatt bring it every time.

Focusing on a hard-groove sound their sets are a relentless force that have blessed dance-floors at clubs such as FOLD, Berghain, Radion and festivals such as Freerotation, WHOLE and Dimensions to name a few.

Never content to not push the boundaries of their music and of the scene, 2022 saw the launch of Frixxxion – a new inclusive space for queer techno raving in the heart of Manchester’s underground that has been welcomed by locals and out-of-towners.

More recently the duo acquired residency for the esteemed Vault Sessions crew, so you’ll no doubt be seeing these two around Europe a lot more in 2023.

With acclaimed releases already on Blue Hour and an upcoming release on Positive Source, expect to get even more familiar with the sound of Blasha and Allatt.
