RTM: Julia Govor & Slam
As well as celebrating 20 years of RTM and a 2 date ‘Return To Source’ with a pair of parties under Glasgow’s famed railway Arches, Soma label-heads Slam closed out the year with a superbly crafted EP, ‘Flicker’, showcasing their hypnotic & direct driving sound, spanning various disciplines, and stripping things down to a pure, introspective, head-down dance floor vibe. Their first international guest of 2025 at RTM is NYC innovator Julia Gover. Julia is the founder and curator of the record label JUJUKA, co-founder of the event series Radial exploring the intersection between live sonic art and electronic experimental music at the Friedman Gallery in NYC. Her sets are dense and vivid. Unpredictable. She herself is enthusiastic and energetic with a charismatic fatal charm. Govor knows how to move, make others feel and engage. Known as a techno producer who has her own unique and innovative sounds, Julia has most recently been featured on Bandcamp Daily as the best electronic music producer and in a glowing review in The New Yorker that called her talent “beguiling” and “rare” and that her music “fills the mind.” On warm-up duties to set the perfect tone is Kairogen She’s a resident at Return To Mono and also at Edinburgh femme techno party Epika, as well as being a regular at Headset. Her DJ sets encompass a wide range of music throughout the house, techno and electro spheres.
