After Karenn gave Rubix a blistering taste of the live-set experience back in December, they’re psyched to be hosting the Sub Club debut of another man operating his machines. Funkineven has long been a favourite round these parts, so naturally we flipped when we found out that he’d started test-driving his live show. The Londoner has carved out a niche as a truly idiosyncratic and eclectic producer, racing ahead of the game with each release. His discography is a potent melting pot of tuff acid workouts, disco-inflected party starters and sexy, low-slung funk jams, and includes some hefty collaborations with names often mentioned at Rubix HQ like Delroy Edwards, Fatima, and Kyle motherfuckin’ Hall himself (as Funkinevil). But it’s no-nonsense arsenal of analogue hardware that’ll be doing the talking on the 20th March; a staggering collection of machines that includes the famed Roland 303 and 808…This one’s gonna be dynamite!
