“Big names are good but close friends are best. Saavedra was my first flatmate (must be a few centuries ago now) and played a big part in my musical journey. I met him at an after party, where he invited me down the hill to Otago St, to his, to play music. Months, and a few jams, later I moved in and all I remember from that time are hazy days and nights sharing our favourite music. And also, running down the stairs with his humungous old telly when we heard the licensing inspectors coming. When Francisco (that’s his first name) moved back to his native Chilé, he entrusted me with his record collection, which I keep in my room – different flat though! I’m going to get a chance to catch up with an old friend, and maybe play some of those records I keep tucked away for special occasions – maybe Beta will join in too!” – Kappa
