Fly Club bring it as Mia Dora go all night long for Fly Club’s St Andrew’s day party this Sunday. Drawing on a deep well of house, techno and hip hop this fine pair already boast early productions with full props and airplay from Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson and Rob Da Bank amongst others. From their damn straight Roots Manuva remix to releases for High Sheen and Moda Black, as well as the release of the ‘You In The Future’ EP on Kerri Chandler’s highly respected MadTech Records, over keen interest has been building up with their every record drop.
Our weekend Fly guy’s caught up with Al and Rob to chat over posh nosh, holidays and party records…
1. Why/Who/How did you end up DJ’ing?
It was a natural progression from never letting anyone else choose the tunes at parties.
2. How would you normally spend your Sunday night?
Propping up the bar in Distill with a Bloody Mary in hand. Sunday is hangover day.
3. Best hangover restaurants in Glasgow?
Apart from Distill there’s a great little place in Maryhill called Posh Nosh. It’s a real Glasgow caf’. A roll with egg and sausage from Posh Nosh is a guaranteed hangover cure. We’ve spent many a morning there trying to piece our lives back together after a heavy night.
4. 5 people you would invite to your party dead or alive?
The infamous Pete the Tash (he’s bringing the booze), Louis Theroux (he’s bringing the banter), Simon Amstell (he doesn’t need to bring anything), Heston Blumenthal (he’s gonna be cooking) Mr Muscle (he’s on clean up duties.)
5. Who is your favourite FLY resident?
Mia Dora, based on good looks.
6. Did you go on a lads holiday – where + best story?
Lads holiday stories are top secret.
