Subculture presents Delano Smith & Marquis Hawkes

For this mid-September subculture date we have lined up a treat with two special guests. First up is the much anticipated return to Subculture for Delano Smith. This time around he will be showcasing his finely tuned live set. Born in Chicago and raised on Detroit’s West side, Delano Smith represents one of the last of a rare group of Detroit’s first house DJs. This will be the first time his live set has been heard on Scottish shores. Delano doesn’t blur the lines between house and techno, for him they never existed. That’s why people like Jeff Mills and Chez Damier hold him equally in high regards.

Not much was known about the mysterious Marquis Hawkes at the start of the year. Having burst onto the scene in late 2012 with his ‘Cabrini Green EP’ for Glasgow label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, his rough and rugged techno and house productions have got the attention of Dj and clubbers alike. For his Subculture debut Harri & Dom are expecting big things from his reputation as one of the most exciting producers to emerge in recent times. They usually know a good thing when they hear it.
