“The Big Reschedule is set, and Spirit returns on March 7th, set to look for the answer to the Big Question—Are Karenn the Best Techno Live Act on Earth?

Veterans at this stage of their careers, UK-born and Euro-based Karenn, comprised of Blawan and Pariah, have spent years swimming in the deep of Techno, searching for the Big Fish with Huge Success. I have very strong memories of being in the room when they were talking about starting up this project, and I’m very impressed to see the path it has taken. I really love improvisation as a mode, as a world, and I still think there’s no one that does it quite like them. Even when they play live, they make music that you feel is going to last the long run, which to me is quite the achievement.

Alongside their own work, they have also dedicated the energies of the last six years to expanding upon existing historical structures of Techno by working with other artists to release on their label, Voam. Lots of really cool and great names like Regina Leather, STROMM, Peder Mannerfelt, Rhyw, and Verraco, with great track titles and even greater music.

Admittedly, I don’t like writing for events—the magic somehow gets lost—but I hope at the very least this sparks a little curiosity to listen to the music discussed so far and that it lands you at the doors of the club in a month’s time to see where things will go.
